Burberry Loves this Technology Stuff

Although it’s a staid, traditional brand, Burberry has been one of the most effective fashion houses at incorporating social media into its new business agenda. At the end of 2009, the manufacturer was among the first to build out a complete website dedicated to Facebook style communication for lovers of the brand’s signature trench coat. In 2011, they are outfitting key stores over the world with ipads and 5 foot tall touchscreens which are loaded with Burberry runway footage and images of the most recent line.

The latest to come from this technologically comfortable team of marketing scientists, led by chief creative officer Christopher Bailey, is an announcement that they will give away samples of their new perfume to fans who like the Burberry Facebook page. Bailey regrulary reaches out to his consumers via youtube, offering a behind the scenes look into the building of Burberry. The video above was featured on the company’s Youtube page and was also posted on their Facebook page. The Facebook page has added at least 1 million followers since this announcement. The question now is how long will it take to send out that many samples!
